Description
OverviewWuskowhan Players Club is seeking a high energy professional to serve as The Club's Head Golf Professional. The Club was founded in 1994 on the simple principle of honoring the traditions of the game of golf and respecting those who play it. The Head Professional role at Wuskowhan is one best suited to a servant-leader who believes in these principles and can maintain a culture of highly personalized service while fostering a private, relaxing atmosphere for our members and their guests. The Head Professional is expected to oversee all golf operations of the Club.
Wuskowhan is a privately owned golf club located 12 miles north of Holland, Michigan, in Port Sheldon. The Club offers a truly pure golf club experience for those who simply love the game of golf and the traditions it holds. Members and their guests are treated as family and provided a private, relaxing, and fun experience where personal service is paramount. The recently renovated clubhouse provides members all the golf and dining amenities expected at a private club. Wuskowhan is owned by a small group of Founding Members and led by The Chairman of the Founders.

- Previous Head Professional experience
- Strong personal qualities of confidence, integrity, credibility, energy, commitment, and humor.
- Verifiable strength in golf club operational knowledge with the ability to seamlessly step into the Head Professional position and maintain operations.
- A strong history of success in leading a staff involving golf operations, including basic financial operations, training, creativity, and enhanced culture development.
- A verifiable leader and motivator who can bring out the best in others by setting clear goals and expectations, holding them accountable for outcomes by providing consistent feedback and support through respectful interaction and professionalism.
- A professional who respects the history and principles of the Club, while also offering new ideas and initiatives looking to consistently improve the Wuskowhan experience and golf operational efficiency.
- A truly confident and competent club industry professional with exceptional awareness who recognizes the importance of accountability who has a strong history of success in leading a first-class golf operation.
- Strong, proven history of managing a golf shop in terms of merchandising, staffing, shop operations, guest service operations, and tournament administration.
- A keen understanding and awareness of quality in all aspects of club operations as well as demonstratable success in leading a club's golf operation to continued relevancy.
- A strong ability and sense to successfully manage evolving membership demographics - appeal and relate to all age groups and member classifications.
- A proven teacher who can provide golf instruction to all levels of players.
- A commitment to on-going and lifelong learning as it pertains to club business and best-practices management.
- Possess verifiable professional development to provide confidence in the ability to lead the golf operations at Wuskowhan.
Essential Responsibilities
The Head Professional will be a leader who is responsible for directing all day-to-day operations of the golf department at Wuskowhan by coordinating with department heads from grounds, finance, and food & beverage. The professional will report directly to The Chairman of the Founders. The position is expected to be a highly visible, directly involved leader who can work collaboratively with all staff to manage the golf operation of the Club with an emphasis on membership relations, tournament operations, merchandising, golf shop management, and instruction. The professional is responsible for continually delivering outstanding personal service to members and their guests as well as assisting with recruitment of new members.

- Being naturally outgoing, conversant, respectful, and diplomatic when needed.
- Possess a basic business acumen for the total golf operation and current trends, able to fully comprehend financial reporting and budget formulation as it pertains to the golf operation.
- Ability to attract, retain, and develop golf staff at every level.
- Is comfortable being the lead representative of golf at Wuskowhan and its standards.
- Possesses the inherent knowledge of all areas of the golf operation, to include merchandising, tournament and league operations, instruction, and private event coordination and administration.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation package will be commensurate with experience. A full benefits package is included with health insurance, 401k, education, professional dues, and Club privileges.
